# TransientError

> Marker for errors after which nothing was written and the same request may succeed later. Catch it to retry a write unchanged.

**New in version 0.8.0**

[`DatasetBusy`](https://docs.fiddler.ai/sdk-api/evals/dataset-busy) and [`DatasetWriteUnavailable`](https://docs.fiddler.ai/sdk-api/evals/dataset-write-unavailable) are transient
errors, so `except TransientError` catches both.

## Example

```python theme={null}
from fiddler_evals.exceptions import TransientError

try:
    result = dataset.update_items(items=items)
except TransientError:
    ...  # nothing was written; try again later
```
